2024 INAUGURAL SUMMER LAUNCH PROGRAM
DAY IN A LIFE OF A SCIENTIST
Students will learn the experience of a scientist, exploring a scientific questions, conduct experiments, and draw conclusions.
NETWORKING WITH PHD STUDENTS
Attendees will be able meet and interact with current PhD students and be paired with a mentor at the end of the program.
ON-CAMPUS EXPERIENCE
Students will be able to visit a college campus and engage in the summer program at Emory University.
Program overview:
The purpose of this program is to help expand the possibilities of students interested in pursuing research and a career in the sciences. Therefore, a panel of professionals at different career stages will give brief overviews of their journey to where they are now. Students will be able to connect with professionals in various fields of science and will serve as mentors to help guide their career and academic pursuits. Furthermore, students will perform activities that reflect how research is conducted, research ethics, and how to work as a team to solve unique problems presented within different areas of public health. Towards the end of the program, students can identify at least two career pathways they may pursue, recall ethical principles when conducting research, demonstrate teambuilding skills, and connect with mentors to help guide them during their academic and career matriculation.
This program has now concluded. We will have future programming in the fall of 2024.
